It includes muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments. The major purpose of fascia is it permits the body to achieve normal shape and allows vital organs the ability to function and maintain correct positions.
Myofascial release is a hands-on treatment, applying gentle sustained pressure directly onto the skin without massage balm, oil or cream.
Myofascial release techniques can help restore the fascia and correct restrictions that have been created.

What to expect from a Myofascial Release?
Myofascial work is a great way to start a massage session, as it helps the therapist listen to what the body is telling them that it needs. It is not rushed and emotions can surface, either during the session or afterwards when you have left the clinic. This emotion release can produce a positive change - physical, emotion or mental.
Each release can take up to 3 to 5 minutes, so your session maybe taken up by this technique. The gentle traction forces applied to the fascial restriction may create heat, increase blood flow to the affected area, enhance lymphatic drainage (this is not a lymphatic drainage technique to help with a blocked lymph system), realign fascial planes and reset soft tissue proprioceptive sensory mechanism (sensory feedback loop between sensory receptors and our brain).
